Chewing Tobacco and Mouth Cancer

Q:  Does regular use of chewing tobacco cause cancer of the bladder? What if one has a history of bladder cancer? Also, is there any evidence that a vasectomy can lead to bladder cancer?

A:  In the past 20 years, the use of chewing tobacco has almost tripled. The major risk posed by smokeless tobacco is mouth cancer. Your risk is four times that of a non-smoker or non-chewer.

There have been no reports of increased risk of bladder cancer from chewing tobacco or from having a vasectomy.
